Where We Work

Where We Work

Optima is headquartered in downtown Midland, in the heart of the Permian Basin, and the Permian is where we do most of our work. Our landmen also work across the other major basins of Texas and New Mexico and beyond, with team members based in Midland, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Austin and Denver.

The Permian Basin: our home field

Since 2014 our landmen have worked mineral, leasehold and surface title, leasing, curative, due diligence and right-of-way across the Permian. We know its county records, its ownership history and its operators.

  • Midland Basin. Midland, Martin, Howard, Glasscock, Reagan, Upton, Andrews, Dawson, Borden and surrounding counties.

  • Delaware Basin, Texas. Reeves, Loving, Ward, Winkler, Pecos and Culberson counties.

  • Delaware Basin, New Mexico. Lea and Eddy counties, where projects can involve federal (BLM), New Mexico State Land Office and fee lands.

  • Central Basin Platform. Ector, Andrews, Crane, Gaines and Winkler counties.

  • Northwest Shelf. Yoakum, Terry, Cochran and Hockley counties in Texas, and northern Lea and Eddy counties in New Mexico.

  • Far West Texas. Courthouse work as far out as Presidio County.

Across Texas

  • Eagle Ford. The South Texas trend from Webb, Dimmit and La Salle counties to Karnes and Gonzales counties, near our landmen in San Antonio and Corpus Christi.

  • Haynesville and the East Texas Basin. Haynesville, Bossier and Cotton Valley plays in Harrison, Panola, Shelby, San Augustine and Nacogdoches counties.

  • Fort Worth Basin. The Barnett Shale and North Texas, near our landmen in Dallas.

  • Anadarko Basin. The Texas Panhandle, including Hemphill, Wheeler, Roberts, Lipscomb and Ochiltree counties.

  • Gulf Coast Basin. Onshore production, pipelines and facilities along the Texas Gulf Coast, near our landmen in Houston and Corpus Christi.

Across New Mexico

  • Permian Basin. The Delaware Basin and Northwest Shelf in Lea and Eddy counties.

  • San Juan Basin. Northwest New Mexico, including San Juan, Rio Arriba and Sandoval counties.

  • Raton Basin. Northeast New Mexico, centered on Colfax County.

Beyond Texas and New Mexico

Optima has completed projects well outside the Permian, and our landmen bring experience from the Marcellus to the Anadarko Basin in Oklahoma. Our Denver-based landmen support work in the Rocky Mountain region. With a wide network of experienced landmen, we can start a project quickly wherever it is.
